WE DID IT!! WE'RE OFFICIALLY UNION!!
From the Animation Guild:
"TAG and #Powerhouse have reached a historic voluntary agreement! This marks a significant moment for #animation as Texas becomes the 1st Right-to-Work state & 2nd state outside of CA to have union-represented animation workers. Let's celebrate! Congrats to our newest colleagues!"
I'm so, so incredibly proud of us, I can't even begin to express. We were a non-union studio for over 20 years, and at this time last year we were still non-union. We changed this. If you're at a non-union studio YOU CAN TOO!! Just start talking to each other and reach out to TAG! Their guidance is so, so good and they'll be with you every step of the way. Our organizer Ben Speight has been absolutely incredible to work with for the past yearโ heโs been so kind and compassionate and he has my sword forever.
I love my coworkers so much and I'm so excited for the future of our studio and to move forward with negotiations ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (Also I drew their splash image!!)
Iโd like you all to think of a lot of low paying service jobs that could be helped by AI. Or physical jobs that are sometimes done by robots like cleaning that could be made better with AI.
Instead, the techbros of the world have decided that the best use for narrow AI is to replace all our creatives, with AI that churns out recycled garbage and canโt make a single joke.
Also yes, that is Grey DeLisle, better known to some as Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Voice actors seem be leading the charge against this for obvious reasons.
Can't get over how offputting that one Reed Richards pinup is where he has his arms crossed but also on his hips at the same time
40,000 years ago, early humans painted hands on the wall of a cave. This morning, my baby cousin began finger painting. All of recorded history happened between these two paintings of human hands. The Nazca Lines and the Mona Lisa. The first TransAtlantic flight and the first voyage to the Moon. Humanity invented the wheel, the telescope, and the nuclear bomb. We eradicated wild poliovirus types 2 and 3. We discovered radio waves, dinosaurs, and the laws of thermodynamics. Freedom Riders crossed the South. Hippies burned their draft cards. Countless genocides, scientific advancements, migrations, and rebellions. More than a hundred billion humans lived and died between these two paintings—one on a sheet of paper, and one on the inside of a cave. At the dawn of time, ancient humans stretched out their hands. And this morning, a child reached back.
May the 4th be with you <3
